Biomedical Innovation Competitions
BioMedizone Missouri's innovation competitions are designed to foster creativity and collaboration in high schools across Missouri. If you are interested in medicine, biology, or biomedical engineering, this competition can be an excellent way to grow your skills and feed your creativity.
Competition details
The task of this competition is to create a pitch for a new biomedical device of your choice. You must create teams of 3 to 4 people and develop an experimental design of your choice. You will be judged on creativity, the feasibility of the device, and its ability to solve real-world medical problems.
You will first submit a slideshow or document detailing the product according to the rubric, and then top-scoring projects will move on to a final round judged by professionals. Top-scoring teams in the second round will receive awards and, if possible, a potential publication in BioMedizone’s partner newsletter (please note this is tentative and may not happen, but it is our goal).
Also, please note that you may create a school club to meet and discuss ideas; however, it is no longer a requirement to compete, as most schools have closed their club registration windows.
The first round will need to be submitted by May 27th to be selected for the next round. Instructions to do so, as well as the portal for submissions, will be added to the website shortly.
The first competition will be held fully virtual for ease of access for all students, including those traveling.
